Mesa Halloween Circus Party: A Coin-Op Claw Machine Full of Pumpkins

October 30, 2026•3 min read

Not every party wants the same claw machine. For this Halloween circus party in Mesa, the host wanted it to feel like a real arcade, so we swapped our standard prizes for goodie-filled pumpkins and set the machine to take quarters.

How it went

Most of our rentals run on free play, but this host wanted coins to add to the arcade feel. We set the machine to 25 cents a play, and it worked: kids lined up with quarters in hand like they were at a real arcade.

Instead of our usual prize mix, we filled the machine with plastic pumpkins stuffed with goodies, so every win doubled as a trick-or-treat bucket. It fit right into a circus-themed party with plenty of other vendors, all welcomed in by a giant disco skeleton at the entrance.

"So far everyone has loved the claw machine! Such a good idea"
The host

Shoutout to The Balloon Chick AZ

A huge thank you to The Balloon Chick AZ (@theballoonchickaz on Instagram). Based in Mesa, The Balloon Chick AZ specializes in intimate events with a splash of planning and backdrop rentals, and this party showed exactly why people book them. The display was incredible, from the circus theme to the giant disco skeleton welcoming guests in. The attention to detail went all the way down to wanting real quarters in the claw machine for the full arcade effect. If you want an East Valley event people talk about long after it's over, The Balloon Chick AZ is the one to call.

Ideas to steal for your party

Match the prizes to the theme. Pumpkins for Halloween worked great. You can bring your own prizes too: 2 to 4 inch items work best, with no glass or unwrapped food.
Free play or coin-op. Free play keeps things easy. Coin-op adds a real arcade feel. Your call.
Leave room for the decor. The machine only needs about 2 ft x 2 ft near a standard outlet, so it fits into even a heavily decorated space.
