How it went
We set the machine up on the patio, stocked it with prizes and set it to free play. From the first guest to the last, there was a line. The best part was watching who was in it: princesses, superheroes, Bluey and a few costumes we couldn't identify, all waiting for one more try.
As the sun went down, the machine's LED lights made it the brightest thing in the yard, which only made the line longer.
"This was the hit of the party!"

Shoutout to Play & Gather
A big thank you to Play & Gather (@playandgather on Instagram). Play & Gather hosts community playdates for families in Phoenix, creating easy, welcoming ways for kids to play together and for parents to actually connect. That community spirit was all over this party, from the costume-packed line at the claw machine to the details like the Boo Booth. If you're a Phoenix parent looking for your people, they're a great place to start.
Planning a big Halloween party?
- Plan for the line. With 125 guests, the machine never sat empty. Put it somewhere open where a line won't block a walkway.
- Think about lighting. The LED lights look great after dark, so an evening party is a bonus.
- Outdoors works. A covered patio with a standard outlet is all the setup space you need.
